On Friday January 31st Friday we welcome back Tashkezar to Jamboree, a brilliant Egyptian folk-funk group combining Egyptian 80s/90s Pop, Balkan folk, and Turkish psych-funk, with support from the ace Parakeet!
Tashkezar are a 7-piece super-band with members from Egypt, Uzbekistan, France and the UK. Their transcultural vibes and explosive fusion sound takes in powerful Mediterranean rhythms, mesmerising Arabic vocals and melodies, punchy Balkan horns and floor-shaking bass lines. Be ready to dance. Opa! Their latest record 'Ew'aa' combines Middle Eastern strings and percussion with funk bass, horns, and Cairo-born Mariam Ali's soaring vocals.
