Tom and Vince Townsend return to the cafe for a special, session-style evening of American and Irish folk and country blues. We can expect powerful songs from Woody Guthrie and Christie Moore, alongside singalongs and boppers by Leadbelly and Hank Williams.


Vince Townsend is the quintessential modern Hobo. Hopping trains or hitching round Ireland, the US, and Spain and seeking out the places with authentic, old-timey living, he's an enigmatic figure akin to your favourite Steinbeck or Coen Bros. Character. As well as a mighty fine picker-and-a-singer, Vince is a talented and skillful artist who is often glimpsed signwriting outside small cafes and pubs wherever he travels. Vince is a real life troubadour, who's charming delivery is the feather in his mis-shapen trilby hat.


Hailing from Liverpool, where The Beatles were his contemporaries, Vince moved to Scarborough where Tom Townsend was born and raised.


Tom was raised on the songs and storytelling of his father, then quickly developed a love of all styles of music. This led him to become a versatile multi-instrumentalist, which in turn has seen Tom playing in Indonesia, USA, France and Ireland as well as most of the UK. Having lived on the coast for most of his life he made the move to Sheffield in 2022, where he quickly became a drummer in demand, playing for acts including Jon Etheridge, Ryan Taylor Trio, Ash Gray and the Burners and more.

A singer songwriter too, Tom's album "Leave it up to Me" was released in 2016 and was mostly recorded in Sheffield.
