Description
Throughout the twentieth century picture postcards were an important form of communication. The social media of their day. Each card and every message a snapshot of its moment; a brief slice of social history, frozen in time.
Greetings From Bude takes a selection of postcards, all sent out from Bude; from early hand tinted and black and white photographs dating from the start of the twentieth century, to more brightly coloured images from the 1950's, through to the 1990?s. This 25 minute film celebrates Bude through postcards.
This event will also include a new, as yet untitled, short film chronicling the time that the writer Jean Rhys lived in Bude, when she was working on what would become her most famous book Wide Sargasso Sea.
There will also be time for a Q&A.
