If Music Be the Food of Love ? Play On Event Title Pic

Description

Rosalie Osborne joins us again for another personalised history of Stony Stratford. This time she will be reflecting on the changing music scene in our town, from the dance bands and jazz she enjoyed as a teenager, through the rock?n?roll and ?swinging sixties? years, on to Folk on the Green and The Song Loft, and not forgetting the choirs and orchestras offering classical and popular items.
Among the jukofstony@gmail.com names you?ll hear about, such as Joe Lovesey, The Rhythm Aces, The Rockets Jazz Band Doug Bytham, The Stratford Singers (whose president was Johnny Dankworth?s sister), Wolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Rod Hall and Matt Armour, there will be the some big names who played locally ? Billy Cotton?s Band at The Galleon in Wolverton, Marty Wilde, The Hollies and Jasper Carrott.
The talk continues, to cover some of the many theatre, shows and circuses entertaining the local population.
If you have any connection with any of the many talented local performers you are likely to hear their names!
Tickets are £3.00 from http://www.wegottickets.com or pay on the door. All proceeds will go to York House.
REFRESHMENTS: owing to technical reasons, we are not able to provide refreshments for this talk ? sorry. You may brink your own, of course.
