Description

The Boomerang Club London are very proud to present an explosive night of Wild Rock 'n' Roll for you at our Boomerang 'Blast Off!'
DO NOT MISS IT!!
*** The Playboys - LONDON RETURN GIG!
The band was originally formed in January 1986, yes, that?s 39 years ago. The idea was that of
Dave Begent, who asked Rob Glazebrook if he would play guitar with him and Kev Clark (drums),
and the ethos of the group was to play, simply, wild Rock ?n? Roll + Rockabilly and choose songs
that were not being covered and write their own. However, the singer chosen didn?t arrive at the first rehearsal, so Rob ended up singing all of the songs and playing guitar, a first for him. Wanting
to expand their sound, Clive Osborne then joined the guys on saxophone, and the rest is history.
Their first album ?Invitation To Death? all self-penned, was released in 1989. Over the years, they
have played over 4000 gigs, and throughout this time, there have been a few line up changes.
Although, there now seems to be 1 that clicks well, and audiences have gotten used to seeing.
After the issue of the ?Twenty One? album, back in 1994, on Joker Records, and re-realised on
?Rolling Rock? in 2008. They have reformed once before but now 4 years later, after their last gig,
have they decided to reform again due to public and popular demand. The line up on ?Twenty
One? and now will be; Rob Glazebrook (Vcls + Gtr), Wayne Hopkins (Bass), Clive Osborne
(Saxophone) and Ricky McCann (drums). It?s a who?s who of well known faces, who know how to
Rock ?n? Roll, which has always been the idea of the group. Rare and wonderful songs are given
the Playboys treatment, like ?Cast Iron Arm?, ?Ooh My Soul?, ?Bloody Mary?, and the wonderful
?Comeback Judy? released on a ?45 in 1995. The band are ready once again, to give audiences
some wild nights.
