Genre : Music - General

Description

Minds Eye Promotions Eastbourne is back for another instalment of their original showcase nights at The Grove Theatre. 3 unique acts for £7 advance. This month, for your viewing pleasure, they bring sludgy metal titans Word Of Nod, avant-pop protagonists En Heat, and French chic pop duo Gemma & The Driver.

Word Of Nod:
INTROSPECTIVE NOISE FOR THE HEAVY HEARTED
Formed as Nod in 1993 as a goth/ grunge act Word of Nod has morphed over recent years into a sludge alt metal band and as their albums show each time a little heavier than before. The recent single release ?Fear Has A Glow? demonstrates this well. Now based on the Sussex coast, were formed in the small weird town of East Grinstead. Expect a tight dynamic heartfelt heavy set. This year Word of Nod embark on recording their latest and sludgiest album so far, ?Storm Over Budapest? planned to be released in late 2025.

En Heat:
Avant-garde antifolk disco-psych rock-n-roll. Back to the fray after a few years recuperating from the antifolk debauchery of the early century with his Carthaginians, Filthy Pedro returns with his new outfit. Pulling in members of David Cronenberg?s Wife and Fruity Water, this seaside supergroup is here to play with your body and mind.
En Heat bring the disco to those antifolk roots and freak show tales are set for skank and vogue. A dissection of the absurdity of our post-industrial, socio-economic system and an incitement to go out and have a damn good time. It?s a hot mess of wrestling masks and songs about walking in on your parents orgy and trillionaire buffoons on the moon. It?s nonsense. It?s not.

Gemma & The Driver:
After signing with the label Blue Pince Production,
Gemma and the Driver recorded their second album
?Juge, Jury, Bourreau? (Judge, Jury, Executioner) in
Spring 2024.
The songs are sunny reflections on dark times. It?s
60s Brigitte Bardot songwriting with cheeky,
confident 90s Liam Gallagher.
With a dose of British autoderision and a splash of
French whimsical philosophy the power duo evoke a
version of the world where SHOO WAPS heal culture
wars and harmonies can make death and heartbreak
seem ?beau? or at least, ?vivant?.
