A special walk put on to coincide with the Global Austen Conference,
Like the Dashwood family in Sense & Sensibility, Mrs Austen and her daughters Cassandra and Jane find themselves homeless after the death of Rev Austen and have to rely on the generosity of their family for support. This saw Frank Austen asking his mother and sisters to join his new household in Southampton. Jane knew the town well having attended school there and visiting the Austen relations, the Butler Harrisons. Find out more about the fashionable spa and Jane?s time in Southampton. Also includes a visit to the historic God's House Tower, used as a debtors prison during Jane Austen's time and now an arts & heritage centre.
