Detta Kenzie is an indie-folk singer and songwriter whose music, while often touched by traditional Celtic folk influences, is guided by a thoroughly modern and independent spirit. A former English teacher, her love of language fuels vivid storytelling exploring landscape, womanhood, grief, and rebellion. Blessed with a voice of striking beauty and clarity, Detta performs with uncompromising authenticity, moving beyond outdated expectations of how a female folk singer should sound, delivering performances full of verve, power, and undeniable truth.

Detta?s music finds its home in the hearts of those who hear it, staying with listeners long after the last note and earning praise from critics for its honesty and soul.
She has opened for celebrated artists including Martin Simpson and Phil Beer, and collaborated with phenomenal musicians such as Tobias ben Jacob. Detta has also formalised a creative partnership with guitarist Chris Cleverley, acclaimed for his intricate, genre-blurring fingerstyle playing that fuses folk traditions with a contemporary edge.

By day our Cafe serves delicious home-cooked food, Fairly Traded coffee & tea and homemade cakes & pastries. All with a nod to local and ethical sourcing. We cater for Vegetarians, Vegans and dietary issues, just ask if you need anything not catered for on our menus. We also have a Delicatessen serving our own home-cooked food daily.
On Sunday to Thursday evenings we host the best acoustic music in the City, specialising in Folk, Roots and Americana.
On Friday and Saturday evenings the Cafe is available for private functions, weddings and parties, please call or email for more details.
