So, Muswell Hill Sustainability Group (MHSG) and Meadow Orchard Project (MOP) are pleased to present a FREE summer afternoon of talks and tours, engaging with and learning about nature, in the glorious community garden oasis of Meadow Orchard. It brings together three community groups who are working hard at engaging their communities with nature, making green spaces accessible (when 47% of the UK is 15 minutes from any), and offering advice on gardening sustainably, including ?
? A guided tour by Alan Briggs, secretary of Meadow Orchard Project (MOP), taking in MOP?s wildlife habitat, apiary, polytunnels, urban symbiosis, community composting, organic gardening methods for growing food, willow and oak coppice and an introduction to some of the site users, activities and outreach they offer.
? A presentation by Helen Finch of Rookfield Biodiversity Group in MOP?s cob Roundhouse on sustainable home gardening: the ?whys and hows? of introducing biodiversity for wildlife, drainage, soil health and to attract beneficial pollinators to support a healthy garden eco-system
? Followed by an introduction by Richard Coulder of Transition Network, a global, community-led movement, working for a low-carbon, socially just future, including renewable energy projects, local food systems and green spaces, as they work towards instating Crouch End and Finsbury Park as Transition Towns ?
? And 'The View from Here: Community Art' exhibition in MOP?s cob Roundhouse ? a Nature-based collection of artworks from the Meadow Orchard community, celebrating creativity and the power of community, coinciding with the Crouch End Festival and The Big Green Week
