DE*PRESTON is a new series of lively all-dayers happening at The Continental in Preston which will challenge the widely-held notions that Preston is dull and Sundays are silent and grey.
The first one off the blocks is this terrifying DOOM/DRONE/NOISE edition featuring Omo, Thraa, Deathbloom and Poundland with more to be added.
OMO
Formed in 2020, Glasgow?s doom cabaret collective, OMO, blends the intensity of sludgy doom with Sabbath style grooves. Featuring members of iconic Scottish acts like Mogwai, The Twilight Sad, Desalvo, Aereogramme, and Stretchheads.
Their sound is an intricate balance of ferocity and nuance ? an unrelenting exploration of bleak, crushing power. OMO?s music is as much about creating an emotional landscape as it is about from sludgy, doom-laden riffs to explosive, cathartic outbursts.
This will be an exclusive English club show for OMO, in-between their appearances at this year's Arctangent and Supersonic festivals.

THRAA
Working without the constrictions of a traditionally structured song, this duo improvise around meditative drones, combining Sunn 0))) influenced guitars with soaring vocals. Making single take recordings, they capture an organic sense of sound that has cavernous textures with minimalism at heart.

DEATHBLOOM
Deathbloom describe themselves as "a four piece dreamo girl band from Manchester", but you will find them very much on the heavier margins of shoegaze. A recent live show was described by Loud Women website thus: "Their performance reached a climax of absolute chaos as moshing fairies destroyed the patriarchy." If that doesn't get your mouth-watering, nothing will!

POUNDLAND
Pound Land were formed in 2020 by Adam Stone (Machine Mafia/Brain Pills/Dead Sea Apes) and Nick Harris (ex-Dead Sea Apes). An absurdist post-industrial ?kitchen-sink? punk-dirge for a dogshit-dull Britain, set in both the recent past and the imagined near-future.

The Continental was Camra West Lancashire Pub of the Year 2010 & 2011, with a range of six changing ales, including a house beer especially brewed for us by Marble Beers, artisan ciders, speciality European and US beers both on tap and in bottle, award-winning wines from Byrne’s of Clitheroe, a great range of soft drinks and the best beer garden in town.
Our regional, seasonal kitchen serves up restaurant quality fresh food with daily specials and favourites, and we’re the indie culture venue of choice in Preston with cinema, theatre, music and more on weekly in our arts space.
Situated on the banks of the Ribble, just a brief walk away from the city centre and adjacent to picturesque park land, The Continental is an oasis of fine food, drinks and atmosphere. We hope to see you sometime soon.
