LAWRENCE CASSERLEY
Lawrence Casserley has devoted his career to the creation and promotion of live performance electronic music in a wide variety of ways. He has worked with many of the leading improvisers, particularly Evan Parker and his Electracoustic Ensemble. While he focuses primarily on the real-time transformation of other musicians? sounds, he also uses voice, percussion, home-made instruments and found objects as sources for his Signal Processing Instrument.
Casserley?s instrumental approach to live computer sound processing is the hallmark of his work, which is documented on many CDs; he has performed and given workshops throughout Europe and in North and South America, Asia and Japan. Current collaborations include Jean-Michel Van Schouwburg, Gianni Mimmo, Martin Mayes, Nicola Baroni, Martin Hackett, Pat Thomas, Dominic Lash, Philipp Wachsmann, Jeffrey Morgan, Harri Sj?str?m, Yoko Miura, and Viv Corringham. He is a regular member of Oxford Improvisers.

LEV DUDAS
In his early life influenced by rock and progressive music and later on by the composers Schoenberg and Xenakis ? a gamechanger for him! Suddenly, an exciting sonic world opened up for him and suggested the possibilities for his own music and what sound worlds could be realised.
Electroacoustic and free improvised music are two fields he has a particular interest in, as a performer and listener, and exploring the potential of instrumental and sonic combinations is perhaps his mission statement ? a key aesthetic in his practice. Since 2019 he has resumed his sonic explorations with his goal being to learn as much about sound production seeking a unique signature through experimentation and the manipulation of ambient noise and the textures.
More recently he has been performing at various venues in London, Chelmsford, and Southend alongside many players from the sound art and improvisation scene ? Kate Carr, Phil Durrant, John Bisset, Tasos Stamou, Stephanos Chytiris, Trevor Taylor, Bryan Styles and Matt Atkins, to name a few.

He has had work released by The Tapeworm, Hideous Replica, Sound Holes, and Beartown Records as well as releasing small run and object editions on his own label, The Black Plume Editions. KARINA TOWNSEND
Karina Townsend is a creative technologist and intrepid sonic adventurer. She works with materials from conventional recording tools to sound making devices, improvised from life's offcuts, to explore the physical environment. For Konsztrukting Soundz she will explore continuous systems with careful modulation, walking a tightrope where things can break or behave unexpectedly.

"FALLING CAT PROBLEM"
Falling Cat Problem is a new collaboration between Lucia H Chung (en creux) and Jack Chuter (Guesswork), presently centred on improvisations for slow-moving electricity and feedback. ?Inclination? was recorded live and remotely back in April 2023, with Lucia stationed in London and Jack in Bournemouth, each urging the other to resist the allure of compositional progress. Instead they forefront the miniature movements that adorn the so-called stillness, pressing hard into unmoving constellations of drone and static until they look set to explode.

LUCIA H CHUNG
Lucia H. Chung is a Taiwanese artist based in London, United Kingdom. She performs and releases music under the alias ?en creux? where the sound creation springs from her fascinations in noise generated through no-input feedback mixing board. The volatile nature of the system and the unpredictable glitch from the excessive energy pouring into the equipment becomes her improvisational and compositional strategy.
Lucia?s passion lies in live performance and has regularly performed solo and with collaborators in the UK, Europe, Asia and North America, including Lausanne Underground Film and Music Festival, Krama Festival, Lisboa Soa Festival, Sanatorium of Sound Festival and Festival Electropixel.
Fuzz comes alive, moving at odd angles like the sinuous threads are being chased by a series of subatomic bleeps and flashes. Tension rises as the tempo picks up, fueling the disjointed rhythmic quality within each sterile, self-contained unit. ? Fox Digitalis

Leigh-on-Sea Fishermen's Chapel Profile Pic

Description

The Fishermen's Chapel stands as a testament to Leigh-on-Sea's enduring community spirit, evolving from its 18th-century Methodist roots into a dynamic hub for arts, culture, and local engagement. This historic venue, originally founded following John Wesley's visit in 1748, now serves as a vital gathering place, fostering connection and creativity within Old Leigh and beyond.

Within its walls, a distinct atmosphere prevails. The main chapel space, built into the cliff, offers a sense of quiet contemplation, where the acoustics lend a natural resonance to spoken word and music, and the subtle scent of aged timber often mingles with the fresh tang of sea air carried in from the nearby estuary. The adjacent community room provides a more contemporary, comfortable setting, adaptable for various gatherings.

Practical considerations are well-addressed, with a pay-and-display car park conveniently located opposite the building, offering free parking after 6 pm. The venue ensures accessibility with disabled access toilets and a gently sloped approach to the chapel area. Regular coffee mornings provide an informal opportunity for visitors to connect, and refreshments are often available during scheduled events.

Throughout the year, The Fishermen's Chapel hosts a diverse programme. This includes a range of musical performances, artistic showcases, and community-led initiatives. It also continues its tradition of worship services, alongside various classes and group meetings, reflecting its multifaceted role as a cherished local asset.
