Best known as the powerful and charismatic frontman of the Oysterband, veterans of the folk and roots scene.
They've released over 20 albums, played all the major festivals in the UK, Europe and Canada and recorded/toured with some of the UK's most revered artists including acclaimed tours and 2 award winning albums with June Tabor.
Now, with the Oysterband saying farewell to their army of faithful fans across Europe and the UK with their hugely successful Long Goodbye tour, John is about to embark on his next chapter, enlisting the help of 2 longstanding friends and fellow musicians: Ray Cooper aka Chopper, and Al Scott. Ray joined the Oysterband in 1990 bringing in the cello sound alongside his bass and backing vocals before he went solo. Al has been associated with the band for over 30 years as producer and stand in guitarist. He joined the band in 2013.
Between them the trio play a variety of instruments. They will be playing traditional and new songs plus some from each of their back catalogues.
