Plymouth based Post-Punk Lounge Lizards, El Generico are the best band in the country named after a wrestler you've never heard of. Their live shows have been compared to the Birthday Party, David Yow (Scratch Acid/Jesus Lizard), Modest Mouse, the Stooges, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Originally described as 'Slaughterhouse Blues', THE WATTINGERS have been influenced in their beginnings by bands like The Birthday Party, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Gallon Drunk, and Killdozer. Prison hollers and blues harmonica players like Howling Wolf informed their earlier work. They have continued to develop these themes and have evolved into an audio and visual experience, using back projections, and creating a theatrical stage environment for their shows. Seven Devils started as a side project of the Wattingers, leaning more into themes of the haunted deserts of the old west, populated by vengeful ghosts and ancient spirits, more gothic in tone than the early Wattingers.
We're a live music venue that puts on punk and indie bands and various club nights.
The Cavern was opened in 1991 as a live music venue - we've put on thousands of bands inc. Muse, Colddplay, Biffy Clyro, La Roux, Royal Blood + more
