Known locally as Newton Hall, The memorial hall is a community facility for Chapeltown and district. Newton Hall is licensed by Sheffield City Council under the Premises Licensing Act of 2003 for the provision of regulated entertainment, entertainment facilities and late night refreshment. The license is operated seven days per week from 9.30am until midnight. This includes public dancing, public music and public singing.

The hall was erected to the memory of Thomas Chambers Newton by his family and firm and opened on 10th November 1923. Later, the hall passed to the care of Sheffield City Council. In March 2000, the trusteeship of the hall was returned to the people of Chapeltown by the City Council. The hall is now run by a management committee for the benefit of the community of Chapeltown and its surrounding district.
