About Neath BandstandVenue Type: Public Bandstand
These artistically laid out gardens are a scenic site where the local community and visitors can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
This is an ornamental, Victorian era park which still largely remains true to its roots. Steeped in over a century of history, several features from different parts of Neath have been brought together to this place. The Gorsedd Stones and relocated bronze Howell Gwyn statue are two examples
Visitors interested in wildlife will find it a serene place to watch and feed the birds. These include robins, blackbirds, house sparrows and chaffinches.
Being at the heart of Neath town centre, Victoria Gardens isn’t just close to nature. It also manages to remain in touch with the world around it. The bus station is located along one edge of the gardens, and car parking is within walking distance. Neath train station is also nearby.
The park was opened for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee on 22 June 1897. It was officially re-opened as Victoria Gardens on 30 June 1898.
