Spreading feel good acoustic music that makes you want to dance.
River Roots (formerly Matt Montez Duo) are a vibrant mixture of roots and alternative acoustic, with hints of folk and reggae beats, bringing diverse sounds and a playful uplifting vibe. Conscious, mind opening music delivered from the heart. Surprisingly danceable sounds from just an acoustic guitar. Lyrically each song has a spiritual meaning or a positive message to enlighten people through their daily lives.
Matt originally from Leeds UK, started his music career whilst travelling Australia. Inspired by the beautiful surroundings and good vibes, his flow of creative writing was ignited. The music is majorly influenced by a nomadic lifestyle and connecting with nature.
In 2013, Matt toured around New South Wales, Australia with notable performances at: Nimbin Roots Festival, March against Monsanto (Bellingen), Spring Eve Festival (Nimbin), Rock The Gate (supporting Nahko & Medicine For The People, Byron Bay) – http://goo.gl/xSAUur, With plays and interviews on Local radio stations across Australia and online stations, he established a presence down under.
Since 2015, vocalist Gem was added to the mix, evolving the music into River Roots. Fusion of their soulful harmonies and positive energy illuminates the stage. Gem brings another layer to the performance, vocally and spiritually as they share their musical journey together.
In 2015/2016, things went up a gear with nearly 50 gigs across Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, returning to the UK for 2 full UK tours and a European tour through the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. Notable Festivals included; The Beat-Herder Festival (UK), Boardmasters (UK), Little Big Gig (UK), Quest Festival (Vietnam), 420 Festival (Cambodia), Landjuweel Festival (NE), Jam Festival (DE), Salford Music Festival (UK).

Overlooking Montpellier Gardens, one of the town centre’s most picturesque locations, the vividly painted Blues Bar packs an unlikely punch amongst its more gentile neighbours.
However, due to its unique, welcoming vibe, its insistence in providing high quality, free live music every night of the week, and the incredible support of its customers, the bar has developed a strong position in the community, as licensees Simon and Sharon Colgan, explain:
"The Blues Bar is not just a pub, it has a defined character that has aged extremely well," says Simon. "It is the only live music venue in Harrogate that has kept its identity during the past 21 years and it continues to attract new customers and performers from miles around."
Modelled on an Amsterdam cafe´ bar it has been going for more than 20 years.
