Description

Based in the London Borough of Bexley, Belvedere Concert Band has gained a reputation as one of the leading concert bands in the South-East, attracting both experienced and aspiring musicians from the surrounding areas.

The Band performs a wide repertoire of music, ranging from light classical and traditional music, to music from stage and screen, 'big band' and popular standards. Dependent on the nature of the concert, the Band can engage supporting vocalists, or join forces with a full choir. For most concerts the Band will use its full complement of around 45 musicians, but for certain special occasions, a smaller band may be provided.

The types of concerts the band have performed in the last year include, bandstand concerts, picnic concerts, indoor charity concerts, private functions wanting focal entertainment, Christmas concerts, Remembrance concerts, themed concerts: music of the movies, musicals, summer programme, classical / proms, big band / jazz, wind band / concert band.

Hall Place and Gardens Profile Pic

Description

Hall Place is a fine Grade I listed country house built in 1537 for Sir John Champneys a wealthy merchant and former Lord Mayor of London. A rare example of its type, much of the house that Sir John built still survives today.

Sir John’s house consisted of a splendid central Great Hall crossed at one end by a service wing and at the other by high status family accommodation including a parlour and great chamber. The outer walls are a distinctive checkerboard pattern made of flint and rubble, a beautiful example of the masonry style popular in the late 15th and 16th century.

The historic house is on two floors, with level or ramp access throughout. There is a lift to the first floor and ramps as an alternative to steps. The nursery and glasshouses are accessible to wheelchair users. There are a limited number of hardstanding paths through the formal gardens.

The approach to the house is via the nursery and visitor centre, a distance of approximately 100 yards. Seating is available along the route, and two wheelchairs are available for use on site for those who find walking difficult. We also have two mobility scooters courtesy of the Bexley Association of Disabled People, that can be borrowed by those that are familiar with how to use them. If you wish to use the wheelchairs or scooters, these MUST be booked in advance by calling 01322 526574. We ask those using them to leave credit card details with us as a form of deposit, to be handed back on return of the wheelchair.

Assistance dogs are welcome, however no other dogs are permitted in the house or gardens.
