Description

West Yorkshire Brass is a brass band, formed in 1986. Prior to this a number of its members were playing with the West Yorkshire Fire Service Band. However, when that band converted from a brass band to a military band many of the brass players found themselves without a band.
As a result those brass players got together and formed a new band ~ West Yorkshire Brass.

All members of the band come from throughout West Yorkshire. From Todmorden to Leeds ~ Keighley to Wakefield. So West Yorkshire Brass is a fitting name.

Over the years membership of the band has increased purely by word of mouth. Most members of the band are ‘ on the wrong side of 40 ‘ with one member now aged 89, so clearly we are not a youth band! Most of our members have been there, done it and got the T-shirt.

The band plays at a substantial number of concerts each year, throughout West, North and East Yorkshire. We are not a contesting band and are quite happy to rehearse only once a week.

Description

The Valley Gardens Harrogate are English Heritage Grade II Listed gardens situated in regal Low Harrogate, which along with woodland, are known as The Pinewoods cover 17 acres.

The Valley Gardens Harrogate contain a greater number of mineral springs than any other known place - visit the area known as Bogs Field where 36 different mineral wells were discovered.

The gardens are continually being restored and regenerated with major works spearheaded by the Friends of Valley Gardens, working with Harrogate Borough Council to care for this amazing park.

For music lovers, band concerts take place on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer.

There is a wide variety of outdoor games such as tennis courts, pitch & putt golf course, crazy golf, boating pool, paddling pool and a children's play area.

The outdoor games season runs from April to October.

Light refreshments are available from the Magnesia Well Café and the Games Pavilion sells some refreshments between Easter and September.

Most footpaths in the Gardens are suitable for the majority of manual and electric wheelchair users and there are disabled toilets.
