Description

Fred Perry Subculture presents:

What better way to open up our three-day New Music Festival than, Squid. One of the breakout acts of 2019, carving a reputation for highly innovative and exceptional live sets.

Unusual and idiosyncratic, theirs is an infectious sonic viewpoint that's pricking up more ears by the day - DIY

More than ably supported by POZI. With a motorik rhythm section accentuated by the versatile swells and stresses of a violin, it is the unusual instrumentation of POZI (bass, drums & violin) that makes them stand apart.

POZI seem to truly exist in their own realm. A band who want to explore possibilities in sound, the three-piece recall the exploratory nature of post-punk while working within their own boundaries. - Clash

No one is quite sure where the enigmatic Lazarus Kane emerged from. A US transplant now living in the UK, he appears a relic of some recent past. What we are sure of - he is absolutely unmissable live. Seriously, do not miss this opening set.

The night will be rounded off with DJ Sets from Glows and Savage Gary (Speedy Wunderground).

Description

The most celebrated live music venue in Europe and one of the most famous in the world. Our longevity is due to an open minded music policy which has seen many different musical styles performed at this venue over It's long history.

Live music began at 100 Oxford Street on 24th October 1942. It was first played at Mack's restaurant (as it was then known) when British jazz drummer Victor Feldman's father hired the venue on a regular Sunday night to showcase the talents of his jazz loving sons and their band. The band consisted of Victor and his two brothers Robert on clarinet and Monty on accordion. They were joined by legendary British saxophonist Jimmy Skidmore for the opening night.
