Celebrate Winter Solstice with a whole host of Shindig! deejays and pals, playing the grooviest vinyl, and The Hare & The Hoofe on stage in the back room between 2200-2300... there's even talk of some free booze for those that buy ticks in advance. More on that later.
The Hare & Hoofe
Some describe them as "educational psych", others prefer "polytechnic beat", still more as "a '70s garage band". You're guaranteed primeval drums, fuzz bass, lashings of
guitar, a sniff of prog, more than a pinch of classic pop, and synth noises from another planet.
Their debut, double album released this year garnered glowing reviews across the board, and is close to being sold out. Disc One rounds up their "hits" so far 2018's smash hit 'White Blindness', the space gregorian chant that is 'Voyager', and the pastoral tale of 'Appledore Fayre'. The second consists of their rock opera, 'The Terror O'f Melton. Time-travelling scientists. Giant laser-eyed robots. Etc.
This year also saw the band recording a second BBC radio session for Marc Riley as well as plays on 6Music from Stuart Maconie. The Hoofe has a stomping live reputation, and have supported bands including Acid Mothers Temple and Focus as well as playing festivals including Tannerfest and Maui Waui, and headlining sell-out shows at The Lexington. Next year they plan to release their second album.
Formed from a gang of friends who grew up together in Folkestone, Hoofe members have played in groups including The Heliocentrics, The Priscillas, Ye Nuns, Jail Cell Recipes, The Frank Sidebottom Oh Blimey Big Band, Chalet and Hyperglo.
