The Veiled Fang: Lesbian Vampire Erotics Of 70's Eurohorror With Patricia Mackormack Event Title Pic

Description

The Veiled Fang: Lesbian Vampire Erotics of '70s Eurohorror.

In this illustrated talk Patricia MacCormack will introduce the varied manifestations of lesbian vampires in '70s euro horror including the films of Franco, Larraz, Borowczyk, Grau and with special emphasis on the work of Jean Rollin, with whom the speaker was close friends until his death. Mixing cinesexual concepts with anecdotes, this talk both queers and queries the lesbian vampire's representation as sanguine exploitative catharsis for the gaze or as veiled unrepresentable threshold between the erotics of thanatos that may suggest a fully other way of experiencing film. Patricia MacCormack is Professor of Continental Philosophy at ARU, Cambridge. She has published extensively on queer theory, european horror film, philosophy and has appeared for Redemption, BFI, Arrow, Nucleus and Indicator. She is the author of Cinesexuality (Routledge 2008), Posthuman Ethics (Routledge 2012) and The Ahuman Manifesto (Bloomsbury 2020)

The talk will be followed by a screening of Le Frisson Des Vampires, introduced by Merlyn Roberts (WorldWideWeird)
