Lonely Disco - Saturday October 17th - 7:30pm - 11:00pm - £6
Your hosts The Galleons bring brilliant and eclectic live music to one of Brighton's finest venues in a unique format. Three great bands play two sets each across the evening, a bit like Jools Holland but with more songs and less boogie woogie piano. For this event we're very happy to welcome back two of our very favourite acts.
Pete Greenwood is one of this country's music legends. His 'songs sound timeless, tapping into acoustic rock's all-time greats' (The Guardian). His last album 'Beauceron' featured heavily in album of the year lists including those of Q Magazine and Noel Gallagher.
Tonight Pete will be performing with his band playing tracks from his new album, 'Radio Slow', due out later this year. His previous shows for us have been dynamite so come and see why he's seen as one of the best songwriters around by those in the know.
Mudlow play moody, dirty blues rock and never fail to get the crowd going!
'Mudlow play the soundtrack to the dark worries...
when you can't sleep at night!
There's trouble everyday!
The dread of a flat tire
on a country two-lane road
at ten o'clock at night,
where you can still be seen.
Somebody's at the back door,
there's a lady at the bar you used to know, and she's strapped,
...and a jukebox plays a Mudlow album.
~Rick Saunders.'
The Galleons are launching their new album. Over four years since their last release the band have experienced lineup changes, big life events, built a recording studio, taken some time out and are coming back with something different but that is still unmistakably The Galleons. Indie-Folk-Rock that's direct and melodic and as fond of delicate minimalism as it is of a big dramatic soundscape.
'Songs that will live in the memory long after the last chord has rung.' The Stables
The Brunswick has been transformed through an extensive refurbishment programme to become the premier music and arts venue in Hove. The owners are committed to providing quality, value for money and a friendly atmosphere. We believe that a pub is an essential part of any thriving community, and should be seen as a facility for the whole community. By encouraging local groups, we run a range of classes: acting, singing, painting, language, wine tasting; and have become a meeting place for a number of groups. With a large garden and a number of meeting rooms, we can offer space for most clubs, societies or social groups. If your looking for somewhere to host your book group, yoga class, dance class, debating club, and so on, give us a call, or better still, pop in. Support your local pub.
Built in the 1930’s, The Brunswick is a striking building with curved bays, turret roofs and brass crittall style windows. Much of the original paneling (the same as used in the Orient Express) has been rescued and restored, particularly in The Venue. Atmosphere and mood change as you move from the beautifully constructed sunny garden through the airy garden room to the bar (a fusion of the best of modern bar and traditional pub). Despite the high-tech sound and stage equipment, the music and arts Venue with its wood paneling, period lighting and fireplace retains a wonderfully cozy feel. Upstairs we have beautifully decorated rooms for meetings and private parties – see Function Room Hire
We offer a broad range of home cooked food every day. Accolades have included “Restaurant quality food at pub prices”; “The best Sunday Lunch in Brighton”; “As an American, I’m very critical of hamburgers – this is one of the best I’ve had anywhere.”
