With strong roots in UK folk and a myriad of global influences including Indian music and Americana, Mishra weave an enchanting web of intricate original music that defies definition. Led by Kate Griffin's gorgeous voice and inimitable clawhammer banjo, Mishra's sound is driven by Ford Collier's instrumental skills on Indian tabla, African calabash, Irish whistle and guitar, and is underpinned by versatile jazz-folk double-bassist Joss Mann-Hazell. Both Griffin and Collier have each been shortlisted for BBC Radio Two's Young Folk Awards with previous projects, and Mishra won Cambridge Folk Festival's first ever Christian Raphael prize in 2019. In the last two years Mishra have wowed festival audiences at Sidmouth Folk Week, Cambridge Folk Festival, Priddy Folk Festival and many more. Their debut album The Loft Tapes (2019) received glowing reviews with Folk Radio UK describing it as a wonderfully adventurous and innovative debut.
