Line up!
JUDGE TREV BAND: for this gig we have Martin on lead guitar and BVs, the return of ICU bassist Nazar Ali Khan, Wayne Collyer on drums, Richard Lanchester on bongos, and of course Gregg McKella and Kev Ellis playing songs from Judge Trev?s ?God and Man? album, Inner City Unit and Hawkwind tunes!
DIRTY SCAVENGER: Dirty Scavenger's music is dark, raw, and full of angst. Influenced by her many life experiences and by some of the greatest rock bands of all time, she writes songs with dark melodic guitar riffs, deep and meaningful soulful lyrics, conveyed with precision on the guitar and powerful raw vocals. A mesmerizing watch!
MONTY OXYMORON: Keyboard player for punk legends The Damned for 25 years, having played at the Albert Hall, London Palladium and on their top 10 album Evil Spirits, Monty steps out for a rare solo outing. His past solo sets at the Real Music Club have included songs he has written for The Damned, songs from his solo albums and an eclectic mix of raps, comedy skits, satire, percussive pieces and just about anything Monty's marvellous musical brain can conjure up in the moment... if he can get a tune or a rhythm out of it he will!
Judge Trev Thoms was a Brighton-based guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was, with ex-Hawkwind?s Nik Turner, a founding member of the band Inner City Unit, releasing several albums in the early 80s. He went on to form Atomgods, featuring Steve Pond on bass, and also MOAB (Mother Of All Bands) with ex-Hawkwind?s Ron Tree.
Judge Trev had previously worked with such luminaries as Graham Bond, Gregory Isaacs and Steve Gibbons.
Trev also ran the Real Festival Music website, and was a founding member of the Real Music Club. He also played on Hawkwind?s vocalist and wordsmith Robert Calvert?s solo album ?Freq?.
Trev ran the Real Festival Music website, and was a founding member of the Real Music Club.
In 2002 Judge Trev brought out his own solo album, ?God and Man? which he described as "Doom/Space/Folk" to some great reviews including Jerry Kranitz from Aural Innovations:
??In summary, God and Man really took me by surprise. Here's a guy who can do Space, Punk and thumping Metal, but is equally adept at writing and playing a good folk, ballad and love song with sensitive and poignant lyrics. Take a chance and check it out?..?

The album was a collection of his more intimate songs, some sea shanties, some songs of typical Trev irony, and an album, that looked into some soul searching questions about life and man?s place in this cosmos, and mortal coil.
Sadly in July 2010, Judge Trev was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he passed away in that December. He is much missed, here in Brighton and also on the music and festival scene. At the annual Kozfest festival in Devon, he even has a stage named after him.
The Brunswick has been transformed through an extensive refurbishment programme to become the premier music and arts venue in Hove. The owners are committed to providing quality, value for money and a friendly atmosphere. We believe that a pub is an essential part of any thriving community, and should be seen as a facility for the whole community. By encouraging local groups, we run a range of classes: acting, singing, painting, language, wine tasting; and have become a meeting place for a number of groups. With a large garden and a number of meeting rooms, we can offer space for most clubs, societies or social groups. If your looking for somewhere to host your book group, yoga class, dance class, debating club, and so on, give us a call, or better still, pop in. Support your local pub.
Built in the 1930’s, The Brunswick is a striking building with curved bays, turret roofs and brass crittall style windows. Much of the original paneling (the same as used in the Orient Express) has been rescued and restored, particularly in The Venue. Atmosphere and mood change as you move from the beautifully constructed sunny garden through the airy garden room to the bar (a fusion of the best of modern bar and traditional pub). Despite the high-tech sound and stage equipment, the music and arts Venue with its wood paneling, period lighting and fireplace retains a wonderfully cozy feel. Upstairs we have beautifully decorated rooms for meetings and private parties – see Function Room Hire
We offer a broad range of home cooked food every day. Accolades have included “Restaurant quality food at pub prices”; “The best Sunday Lunch in Brighton”; “As an American, I’m very critical of hamburgers – this is one of the best I’ve had anywhere.”
