Description

Rory And The Island- Wonderful to welcome back Donegal singer/songwriter Rory Gallagher to The Dublin Castle, a brilliant match each and every time.

Donegal singer/songwriter Rory Gallagher has used the project name "Rory & the island" since 2010.

Rory and The Island has had 10 top 40 songs in the Irish iTunes charts, with "Jimmy's Winning Matches" breaking through to the actual overall Irish top 10 in Oct 2012.

Rory was the bass player and lead vocalist with Irish Indie group 'The Revs' from 2000 to 2007. The Revs had 2 top 5 albums in Ireland and after disbanding Rory moved to Lanzarote where he later opened up "the island bar" in 2013.

The Island bar became the No.1 recomended live music venue in Lanzarote for 5 years on TripAdvisor.

Rory has worked with artists as varied as Sharon Shannon, Finbar Furey, Steve Brown (The Cult, Manic Street Preachers), Paul Brady, Paul Harrington, Wallis Bird, Shane McGowan and Nick Seymour to name a few.

March 2020 saw Rory, and his wife Cara, open a brand new music bar "The Wildcat" in Tollcross, Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Wildcat bar never reached its official opening night of march 21st 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

Rory has been playing facebook live gigs every saturday since April 2020 to a huge response.

In Nov 2020 Rory and The Island went to No.1 on the overall iTunes charts in Ireland with "When the lights go down" which also went to No. 8 on the UK itunes songwriter charts.

Rory's latest single "Miss This" was released on March 19th and charted at no. 1 in the overall iTunes charts in Ireland, it also charted at no.3 in the UK singer songwriters charts.

Following a sell out tour, Rory released his latest album "Centre Falls Apart" on March 11th 2022 to critical acclaim. It was featured as Album of the Week on RTE radio 1 and entered at No. 8 in the Irish Indie charts. Rory is now touring the album in Ireland and the U.K.

Description

The Dublin Castle is a legendary pub and music venue located 2 minutes away from Camden Town tube station. It has been run by the same family for over 28 years and features 4 live bands every night as well as a great selection of beers, ciders and wines.

There are DJs after the bands on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and a fabulous jukebox in the front bar if you’re after a more relaxed atmosphere.

But what is it that makes the Dublin Castle the long-standing centre of the indie rock universe? Is it because it’s Madness’ birthplace? Because its stage has been graced by everyone from Blur, through Coldplay, Supergrass, The Killers, The Arctic Monkeys, Billy Bragg, etc? Is it because it was no surprise to see Amy Winehouse behind the bar serving costumers? Or Suggs? (who, mind you, tended to ignore costumers and serve himself) Or is it because far from being just another Camden venue it has established itself as an indie rock institution? The answer is that it’s not only because of its musical heritage that people come to the Dublin Castle, it’s because whilst you enjoy a pint, play some tunes on the jukebox, check out the live bands, get your dancing shoes on for our DJs, chat to our friendly staff or even stage-invade a little, you’re inadvertently being part of this movement the Dublin Castle leads, this cultural legacy. Expect no castle battlements. Just pure rock and roll royalty.
