Senior Class Vs The Turners Plus The Battery Farm

Event Type

Genre : Music - General

Description

Senior Class - a nifty 1960s bent Beat and Garage band from the badlands of Essex. With choice covers and ace originals, expect to hear material by the likes of from the likes of The Sonics, Count Five, Hamburg Era Beatles, Bo Diddley, Slim Harpo, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and many more. Debut single 'Fit Thighs and Pretty Eyes' inspired a fair bit of interest in December 2020 and the band have headlined Mersea Island Scooter Rally, and played innumerable neat gigs. Think Hamburg Beatles go Freakbeat...or The Flamin' Groovies hit Canvey Island. Absolutely belting good fun...on stage tonite at 9.45pm.

The Turners - So you're an Argentinian gal with a thing for John Lennon, so much so you channel yourself into being a conduit for Lennon in female form- and that's pretty darn cool, but then you hear Arctic Monkeys, and fall head over heels in love with Alex Turner's sharp witted lyricism and richly poetic street rock voice. You form a band- and that band are... The Turners. An Argentinian cover band dedicated to all the songs sung by Alex Turner, in which its lead singer is a female. Yes, Sir. On stage tonight at 8.30pm.

The Battery Farm - self styled 'Gutter Punk band from Manchester' whose sound is visceral, dark, heavy and powerful while retaining a strong sense of melody. As a live band ferocious, intense and frantic. Some winningly humorous content ('Roy Keane Isn't Real') and plenty of originality amidst the punk rock format plus a few elements of Manc cum Brit Indie a la North West ....nicely placed mix of vim and venom from this not quite so young as thney once were punk trio. Onstage tonite at 7.45pm

Description

The Dublin Castle is a legendary pub and music venue located 2 minutes away from Camden Town tube station. It has been run by the same family for over 28 years and features 4 live bands every night as well as a great selection of beers, ciders and wines.

There are DJs after the bands on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and a fabulous jukebox in the front bar if you’re after a more relaxed atmosphere.

But what is it that makes the Dublin Castle the long-standing centre of the indie rock universe? Is it because it’s Madness’ birthplace? Because its stage has been graced by everyone from Blur, through Coldplay, Supergrass, The Killers, The Arctic Monkeys, Billy Bragg, etc? Is it because it was no surprise to see Amy Winehouse behind the bar serving costumers? Or Suggs? (who, mind you, tended to ignore costumers and serve himself) Or is it because far from being just another Camden venue it has established itself as an indie rock institution? The answer is that it’s not only because of its musical heritage that people come to the Dublin Castle, it’s because whilst you enjoy a pint, play some tunes on the jukebox, check out the live bands, get your dancing shoes on for our DJs, chat to our friendly staff or even stage-invade a little, you’re inadvertently being part of this movement the Dublin Castle leads, this cultural legacy. Expect no castle battlements. Just pure rock and roll royalty.
