A night of starry electronica, soul, jazz, blues and swing at the new Jamboree in King's Cross with the Theo Bard Band and Joplin Parnell.
"Theo Bard is a singer/songwriter creating compositions reminiscent of The XX, Ry X and Rufus Du Sol, all bound together with the spirit of Leonard Cohen".
"This is midnight music - each element set against a jet-black sky so that its beauty and light can twinkle."
"It is on the live stage that Theo's music shines brightest. In collaboration with synth king Jake Chapman (Rum Buffalo), drummer Ben Brown (Waaju) and Tal Janes (Nubiyan Twist), the music is woven into a hypnotic feast of guitars, synths and samples which builds and builds. Equal weight is given to vocals and instruments, allowing every element in the ensemble to come to the fore when required, with live looping and vocal harmonizer adding extra depth to Theo's ever-irresistible hooks."
"There is a devotion to poetry which lies behind this music; a desire to dig deeper and find words to express the profound atmosphere, while leaving space for emotions which will always remain unsaid."
Joplin Parnell is a pianist and vocalist who brings his unique passion and energy to music from the turn of the century. His sets weave a rich tapestry of Early Jazz and Swing, Ragtime, French Musette, Brazilian Choro and other musical oddities from around the world.
He has spent the past decade residing in London and New Orleans and performed everywhere from busking pitches around the UK to Glastonbury Festival and Ronnie Scott's, with Kansas Smitty's and makes his living playing in London's jazz clubs, swing dances and cocktail bars.
