Description

The Howl & The Hum were born in York, an ancient city teeming with ghost stories and pubs. In these pubs, the band met, worked in, wrote, rehearsed, played, and honed their craft of powerful folk songs enhanced by melodic drones, driven by frontman and principal songwriter Sam Griffiths.

Their music draws inspiration from the folk musicians of the 60s such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, while infusing it with the alternative music of the 90s, such as Radiohead and Massive Attack.

Their debut EP, ?Godmanchester Chinese Bridge?, was released in 2017, earning acclaim for its lyrical vulnerability and its exploration of genre, and received international radio airplay and millions of streams worldwide, and their critically lauded debut album ?Human Contact? was released in May 2020.

While building up a reputation for their emotional and intense live shows while touring the UK and Europe, they were invited to play SXSW in Austin TX by Radio 1's Huw Stephens in 2019. Their hometown show at the renowned York Minster in 2021 was recorded and released onto vinyl, and when the touring industry reopened, they finally toured their debut album in October 2021, selling out 2 nights at the Brudenell in Leeds, Paradiso in Amsterdam, and Islington Assembly in London.

This intimate acoustic show will be a glimpse behind the band's expansive sound, and will showcase songs new and old in a powerful, stripped-down format.
