'the Green Hill - Letters To A Son' With Sophie Pierce Event Title Pic

Description

Sophie Pierce's new memoir is a homage to the landscapes of the West Country, as well as a moving account of the loss of a child. She will be in conversation with novelist Louisa Young.

Her book, ?The Green Hill: Letters to a Son?, tells the story of the sudden and unexpected death of her son Felix, who died in 2017 at the age of 20. It is, naturally, about grief, but also about finding joy after bereavement. The book explores our emotional connection to natural places and the restorative power of wild environments. Many places in Cornwall feature, including Daymer Bay, Greenaway Beach, Nanjizal and Gillan Creek, as well as locations on Dartmoor and the south Devon coast, including Hay Tor, Burgh Island and the Dart Estuary.

Sophie is a former BBC journalist who is also the author of several wild swimming guides, including ?Wild Swimming Walks Cornwall?. She lives on Dartmoor in Devon.
