Description

anarchistwood - taking inspiration from Detroit '60s, '70s proto punk (indeed have been known to play a Destroy All Monsters number) as much as the Pistols packin' '76 SEX scene and post Crass '80s Anarcho satire... Frank Cutter and crew know how to enrich the audience with fabulous, head turning, transgressive punk rock, and play it with a supercool ease.

Punkish pranksterism never got so sassy. Effortlessly brilliant, massively entertaining. Their uber neato version of 'White Punks On Dope' ('Black Punks On Speed'! hollers bassist Mitch!) is a wonderful inclusion in recent sets too.

The Blunders - Moonrakers with a side line in howling at the bastard too! Politically charged, attitude to the fore, telling us what for with a semi narrated not exactly rap but kinda delivery and some insistent punky but tight and disciplined grooves... like a deconstructed Gang Of 4 meets Alabama 3 on Dexys..

.Motorhead certainly reverberate a lot here, as do Killing Joke, Ministry and Hawkwind. Unfortunately Dermot O'Leary no longers lives behind the Dublin, so if they play it tonight he won't catch their er...'tribute', haha.

Bug Central - Bug Central are a punk band from London, England formed in 1996 and still playing with the original line up of Noodles Romanov (guitar / vocals), Ben Blasphemy (bass) and d. rummer, ex of early 80's band The X-Cretas, on drums. Fierce and rumbling proper PROPER punk.

DJ Fuzz- will keep the buzz abuzz will DJ Fuzz.

Description

The Dublin Castle is a legendary pub and music venue located 2 minutes away from Camden Town tube station. It has been run by the same family for over 28 years and features 4 live bands every night as well as a great selection of beers, ciders and wines.

There are DJs after the bands on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and a fabulous jukebox in the front bar if you’re after a more relaxed atmosphere.

But what is it that makes the Dublin Castle the long-standing centre of the indie rock universe? Is it because it’s Madness’ birthplace? Because its stage has been graced by everyone from Blur, through Coldplay, Supergrass, The Killers, The Arctic Monkeys, Billy Bragg, etc? Is it because it was no surprise to see Amy Winehouse behind the bar serving costumers? Or Suggs? (who, mind you, tended to ignore costumers and serve himself) Or is it because far from being just another Camden venue it has established itself as an indie rock institution? The answer is that it’s not only because of its musical heritage that people come to the Dublin Castle, it’s because whilst you enjoy a pint, play some tunes on the jukebox, check out the live bands, get your dancing shoes on for our DJs, chat to our friendly staff or even stage-invade a little, you’re inadvertently being part of this movement the Dublin Castle leads, this cultural legacy. Expect no castle battlements. Just pure rock and roll royalty.
