Brighton?s finest and probably only music AND comedy night returns to the gorgeous Folklore Rooms.
The first half will be comedy and musical comedy. Then you go to the bar and have a drink. Then the second half will be music! And then everyone goes home happy. That?s the plan, at any rate.
THE MUSIC
Headlining is indiepop legend MJ Hibbett. He?s met that Steve Lamacq, and Nigel Blackwell knows his name, such is the consistent quality of his long and varied back catalogue of heartfelt indiepop bangers. He also had the first ever viral hit single on the internet, but he doesn?t like to talk about it.
Making their debut musical performance is The Highchurches, an indie/folk/country duo from Brighton. They have written some songs and they?d like to play some of them to you, and putting on this gig is the only way of ensuring that they actually bother to learn how to play them.
Joanna Burke is a folk musician and teacher who lives just over the Downs from Brighton. She?s a wonderful singer and a beautiful arranger of songs and understander of their origins and meanings. She also runs the Brighton Folk Choir, who (you never know!) may join her to guest perform on the night.
