Event Type

Genre : Music - General

Description

BugBear Promotions are excited to bring you this Saturday afternoon matinee performance.

US post-punk duo, Frenchy & the Punk are back in the UK for a whistle-stop tour, and find just enough time to squeeze in this show in Camden. Also on the bill are Marc Burrow's Beyond Victoria project, Camden's very own weird popsters Flesh Tetris, and Birmingham's down & dirty rock'n'rollers, The Head Hunters.

The running order will be decided on the day, and the event runs from 2pm-5pm. Get your ticket now, and get down to the venue early to catch all of the acts.

Frenchy & the Punk are a Euro-American Alternative post-punk duo based in New York City. They were listed in the top 25 duos in May 2012 by Yahoo Music Blog's List of the Day. Punk guitarist Scott Helland, originally from the bands Deep Wound and Outpatients, formed Frenchy and the Punk with singer Samantha Stephenson in 2005. The group was originally called The Gypsy Nomads. They adopted their nickname Frenchy and the Punk prior to their first European tour in 2011.

Flesh Tetris was formed by Andy Heintz (formerly of Creaming Jesus and The Men That Will Not Be Blame For Nothing) Eva Menon and Andy Duke, both formerly of Cauldronated. "Catchier than a hangnail on a pair of fishnets" they never fail to deliver live, and guarantee you an afternoon of off-kilter pop goodness.

Before Victoria is the sugar-grunge side project of The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing's Marc Burrows. Expect UK alternative rock with a little 19th-century twist. Their Carry On Up The Chartists EP was released to great reviews last year, and marks the first recording by the new line-up.

Mining the fertile proto-punk period of the late sixties and mid 70s, the Head Hunters, wear their influences on their raggedy sleeves. Having previously backed both Damned guitar-slinger Brian James and also NYC Heartbreakers legend Walter Lure, now you can see them playing their own compositions along with a smattering of associated covers. Featuring ex members of Gunfire Dance, King Adora, TMTWNBBFN and the Godfathers.

Description

The Dublin Castle is a legendary pub and music venue located 2 minutes away from Camden Town tube station. It has been run by the same family for over 28 years and features 4 live bands every night as well as a great selection of beers, ciders and wines.

There are DJs after the bands on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and a fabulous jukebox in the front bar if you’re after a more relaxed atmosphere.

But what is it that makes the Dublin Castle the long-standing centre of the indie rock universe? Is it because it’s Madness’ birthplace? Because its stage has been graced by everyone from Blur, through Coldplay, Supergrass, The Killers, The Arctic Monkeys, Billy Bragg, etc? Is it because it was no surprise to see Amy Winehouse behind the bar serving costumers? Or Suggs? (who, mind you, tended to ignore costumers and serve himself) Or is it because far from being just another Camden venue it has established itself as an indie rock institution? The answer is that it’s not only because of its musical heritage that people come to the Dublin Castle, it’s because whilst you enjoy a pint, play some tunes on the jukebox, check out the live bands, get your dancing shoes on for our DJs, chat to our friendly staff or even stage-invade a little, you’re inadvertently being part of this movement the Dublin Castle leads, this cultural legacy. Expect no castle battlements. Just pure rock and roll royalty.
