**TIM BURNESS** is a UK pop/rock/prog musician, who has been writing and performing since the 1980s, having released eight albums. 2024 sees the launch of fab new material collaborating with a new band of musicians to freshen up the creative juices. Tim?s previous albums have been well received and critically acclaimed in the Prog and art-rock circles with his socially conscious, spiritually searching and deep thinking lyrics particularly striking a chord. It is always a pleasure to show case Tim?s latest work at the Real Music Club.
**RUBBER BUS** formed in Brighton in the early 1990s sharing international stages with the likes of Transglobal Underground, Loop Guru, Hawkwind, Here & Now and many more. They released a series of cassettes and a full album Take It Easy and contributed tracks to several compilation albums, most notably the infamous Music For Coffeeshops comp on Dreamtime alongside Porcupine Tree, Astralasia, Ship Of Fools and Back To The Planet in 1996.
Since reforming after a twenty-year hiatus in 2019, Rubber Bus are now based in and around the South West with original members Saul Yarg (electronics/vocals) and Just George (guitar loops) plus synth wizard Andy Roid (ex-Here & Now) and King Razor (GRUPPE!) on bass and electronics. This new version of the band has a new emphasis on ambient space while still utilizing dub-influenced and psychedelic electronics and beats often featuring guest musicians Gregg McKella (Paradise 9) on tin clarinet, wordsmith Tim Hawthorn (The Anarchetypes, Invisible Opera Company of Tibet), Nick Raybould (Thought Bubble) on percussion and Hope Schachter (Coosticks) on flute and clarinet to further texture their sound.
New albums Visual Radio Arts Live, Noh Yogah and Return To Reason are available at Bandcamp: www.rubberbus.bandcamp.com with a new studio album, Welcome To Karmic City mooted for release in 2024.
Writing in The Wire magazine, Byron Coley described their 2020 album Return To Reason as:
??an interesting handle on live electronics?early 60?s European electronic music?and a smidgen of Gong??

The Brunswick has been transformed through an extensive refurbishment programme to become the premier music and arts venue in Hove. The owners are committed to providing quality, value for money and a friendly atmosphere. We believe that a pub is an essential part of any thriving community, and should be seen as a facility for the whole community. By encouraging local groups, we run a range of classes: acting, singing, painting, language, wine tasting; and have become a meeting place for a number of groups. With a large garden and a number of meeting rooms, we can offer space for most clubs, societies or social groups. If your looking for somewhere to host your book group, yoga class, dance class, debating club, and so on, give us a call, or better still, pop in. Support your local pub.
Built in the 1930’s, The Brunswick is a striking building with curved bays, turret roofs and brass crittall style windows. Much of the original paneling (the same as used in the Orient Express) has been rescued and restored, particularly in The Venue. Atmosphere and mood change as you move from the beautifully constructed sunny garden through the airy garden room to the bar (a fusion of the best of modern bar and traditional pub). Despite the high-tech sound and stage equipment, the music and arts Venue with its wood paneling, period lighting and fireplace retains a wonderfully cozy feel. Upstairs we have beautifully decorated rooms for meetings and private parties – see Function Room Hire
We offer a broad range of home cooked food every day. Accolades have included “Restaurant quality food at pub prices”; “The best Sunday Lunch in Brighton”; “As an American, I’m very critical of hamburgers – this is one of the best I’ve had anywhere.”
