Like an ouroboros, Paper Anthem begins exactly when it ends, as American singer-songwriter Joseph H|itchcock abandons a near-decade of solo artistry for a fresh start in London, home to all the late naughties indie that inspired him.

Here, Hitchcock meets the other three members of the increasingly international Paper Anthem lineup: guitarist Noor Harajli (Lebanon?also of NOCT), bassist Carlo Haltrich (Romania), and drummer Joe Spoors (Nottingham), all filmmakers who accidentally fell into the music industry.

The fruits of an aggressive recording schedule were finally plucked in December 2023 with the release of their first EP, A Victimless Crime, merely a small taste of what they're planning for 2024 as they continue swimming to the surface of the endless sea of noise that is the London music scene.

The Brunswick has been transformed through an extensive refurbishment programme to become the premier music and arts venue in Hove. Built in the 1930’s, The Brunswick is a striking building with curved bays, turret roofs and brass crittall style windows. Much of the original paneling (the same as used in the Orient Express) has been rescued and restored, particularly in The Venue. Atmosphere and mood change as you move from the beautifully constructed sunny garden through the airy garden room to the bar (a fusion of the best of modern bar and traditional pub). Despite the high-tech sound and stage equipment, the music and arts Venue with its wood paneling, period lighting and fireplace retains a wonderfully cozy feel.
