Description
ROOST is a one-woman-steampunk-fantasy-musical set in the world of Second Born (a.k.a Bòbò).
It's a feast of a tale : absurd; funny; philosophical; wondrous and inspiring. The show is filled with funky songs and musical storytelling narrative.
Bòbò is a misfit who lives alone in an abandoned Railway Station next to a swamp, in a version of Oxford not quite matching ours. It's where her family has lived for over a century. She feels half-hearted about carrying on with their tradition of making cloth out of rain. It all seems so tenuous and not very useful.
ROOST is about making tiny precious things, a swamp where time and logic are highly unstable; how to do something useful with your life (according to grandpa); meeting strange new friends; baked goods; outer space and astronomical minds.
The story is told with the help of props, masks and a vintage Rhodes electric piano.
There's even a possible answer to the question: ?as we go looking up with longing at stars do they look back down and long for us too??
It was conceived and written by Karen.
Running time: 80 minutes plus an interval
